Many of our customers ask us, what is the difference between direct fired construction site heater and indirect fired heater?
One way to look at it, direct fired heater are similar to a gas barbecue grill or your gas stove top that are dependent on propane or natural gas to create heat. These units force air directly through the flame to heat the air.
Now, an indirect fired construction heater can be looked as more like your home oil or gas burning furnace with a chimney. The flame produced by the unit is contained in a burn chamber which heats a “heat exchanger”. The cooler air passes over and around the heat exchanger, thus heating the air.

These styles of heaters do not create flames to produce the heat they generate and because of this these units are not deemed dangerous on construction job-sites. Flameless construction site heaters produce clean, dry air and are portable, so you can easily move them around your construction site.
Flameless Heaters do not produce smelly or dangerous fumes and can be placed right against to the area you are working on. Other heaters, such as indirect fired heaters, direct fired heaters, electric heaters etc. must be placed at minimum 150 feet from dangerous areas that may contain dangerous fumes that could ignite with a flame.
